Situated on the lower level of Unity Temple on the Plaza.
You can get married upstairs, and have your reception downstairs.


All located in Kansas City's premier shopping and dining district,
the Plaza, with numerous hotels within blocks of our doors.

Full hall rental includes seating for 100.
Additional tables and chairs are available for rent thru AAA Party Rental at cost.

Handicap entrance and door opener, as well as a handicap restroom on the ground floor.

Eden Alley is a Vegetarian Caterer...offering a

"DIVINE FLAVOR for the CONSCIOUS EATER."

 

Need it vegan or gluten-free? Dietary constraints?

We'll adjust our items to your needs.

 

 

MUSIC
Bring in a band or DJ or connect your iPod and have your own playlist,
and we also have a wireless microphone for toasts, speeches and such.

 

 

SECURITY
The Country Club Plaza facilities are already staffed with security.


 

DAY OR NIGHT RENTAL FEE
When we close our restaurant to cater for you in our restaurant space,

Unity Temple charges a $300 rental fee for the hall per 6 hour block of time.

Six hour rental blocks must fall within 7am to 3pm or 5pm to 12am.
Rentals which fall in-between these time slots are considered whole-day events
because the restaurant would have to be closed for the entire day.
These events would be charged extra.

 

PRIVATE ROOM

Unity Temple also rents a space connected to our restaurant area, called Temple Space.

This room is completely private, can seat 75 and features an 80" media ready television.

We can set up semi-private events for groups having less than 100 guests,

on either side of our restaurant while it is open to the public.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

RECEPTIONS OVER 100 guests, your reception will require our ENTIRE RESTAURANT space, and thus we will need to close the cafe to regular business.

 

In order for Eden Alley Cafe to CLOSE to our regular customers, and have a PRIVATE reception for you and your guests, we require the following Minimum Catering amounts:

 

This amount includes food, service and Unity Room Fee; any rentals, etc. would be in addition to this number.

These minimums are based on a 3 hour catering for 100 people, including labor for the total amount of set-up, service, and clean-up/reset time. Taxation of 10.85% will be additional. Weekend rates are premium business times and thus the minimum is higher.

 

 

The above minimums are for the restaurant CLOSING and using the entire restaurant space strictly for your event. We can also set up semi-private smaller events on either side of our restaurant, while it is open:

 

RECEPTIONS BETWEEN 50-100 guests, we can set-up a semi-private reception in the EAST SIDE of our restaurant, closing the curtains, while the cafe is open to regular business on the West side. (Our host area will still be utilized during regular business hours)

 

Minimum Catering amounts for the East side of the restaurant:

When planning your event, there are many costs that go into a catered event.

 

Here is a sample cost breakdown for a 100 person, 3 hour reception:
Keep in mind that there will usually be a 2 hour set-up and 2 hour clean-up, before and after your event.
This makes 7 hours of actual catering time for our staff to ensure your event is perfect.

  • Food
  • Room or Hall rental (if applicable)
  • Rentals - your choice of extra tables, chairs, linens, wine glasses, etc., if needed
  • Service $2695.00
    • Chef - $525 ($75.00 per hour)
    • Kitchen Staff - $420 (2 staff at $30 per hour - Works with chef in food preparation)
    • Coordinator - $280 ($40.00 per hour - This person is in charge of the staff and responsible for making your event flawless)
    • Servers - $1050 (5 servers, $30 per hour, 1 server per 20 people - This ensures your guests get optimal service)
    • Bartender - $210 ($30 per hour), if needed
    • Dishwasher - $210 ($30 per hour

 

Setting your budget, and staying within it:
We suggest determining the total amount you wish to spend on your event.

  • now subtract any hard costs:
    • such as labor, rentals, room fees, bands, dj, etc...

  • this leaves you with an estimated amount you have for food purchase
    • multiply that amount by 10.85% to determine how much tax will charged on your purchase
    • subtract this number from your budget because the government always gets theirs

  • the remaining money is your maximum food budget
    • divide this number by the amount of guests you expect
    • now you know the maximum you can spend per person on food to stay within your budget

 

 

 

 

If you are not using Eden Alley as your caterer, your rental fee paid to Unity Temple would also include a fee for our restaurant to close and not receive revenue. (See chart below) For Hall rental without Eden Alley catering your event, please call: Christine Garvey (816-561-4466).

HAVING AN EVENT IN THE CHURCH? HOW ABOUT OFFERING CONCESSIONS?
Let us help you offer your patrons concessions during your intermission. We'll have friendly faces ready to serve fast and fresh coffees, teas, cookies downstairs in Meyer Hall. Simplicity...reserve your concessions while you reserve your room with the church. $100 opens and staffs our cash concession area for your guests only. Your patrons simply pay for what they order.

Our initial consultation is free; subsequent meetings are subject to charge. We require a $200 deposit to "book" a date, which goes towards your final bill. Cancellation within 21 days of event forfeits client's deposit. Cancellation within 1 week of event requires payment of half food quote, because we will have already purchased ingredients for your event. Cancellation less than 1 week of event requires full payment of food quote, as we will have already purchased and started preparing food for your event. Estimate Payment due 7 days prior to event. Any remaining charges will be due within 1 week after your event.
